The Socialist Labor
Party of America (since 1890) has earned and kept the respect of
friend and foe alike for its unwavering dedication to the
fundamental principles of scientific socialism as developed by
Karl Marx, Frederick Engels and its own Daniel De Leon.
The socialism we aim for, as De
Leon described it, “is that social
system under which the necessaries of production are owned, controlled
and administered by the people, for the people, and under which, accordingly,
the cause of political and economic despotism having been abolished,
class rule is at end. — That is socialism, nothing short of that.”
The SLP relies entirely on the
voluntary contributions of its working-class members and supporters
for the financial support it needs to conduct its work. As working
men and women ourselves, we fully appreciate the value of every
